KGXY Fly-In a HUGE success for the Greely-Weld County Airport and surrounding community

BAS Part Sales Headquarters in Greeley, CO

The fly-in, which took place on June 8, 2024, at the Greeley-Weld County Airport and was sponsored by Summit Flight Training and BAS Part Sales, was a massive success. We estimate that over 500 people participated in the festivities. We had dozens and dozens of pilots fly-in and a large turnout from the local Weld County community as well.

The event started early, with the support staff beginning to show up around 5 a.m. As the sun rose, the vendors were also hard at work, setting up their stalls and preparing for the day's activities. It wasn't long before we heard the rumble, the 'sound of round', making its way to the airport. By 7 a.m., we had a full tarmac of vendors, classic cars, war birds, private airplanes, and the big Douglas DC3. The sights and sounds of so many amazing airplanes landing and taxiing were awe-inspiring, to say the least. The energy and enthusiasm in the air was palpable, igniting a sense of inspiration in all aviation enthusiasts present.

Breakfast was definitely a big hit. The griddles were fired up, and pancakes and eggs were flying by 7 a.m. sharp. We estimate that we made nearly 1,000 pancakes and cracked and scrambled over 800 eggs. We lost count of how much bacon we cooked. And the coffee, compliments of the locally-owned Scooter's Coffee in Eaton, was amazing as well. The breakfast tables in the BAS hangar were full from start to finish.
