Piper PA-28-181 Archer II

The Piper PA-28 Cherokee is a highly successful family of light aircraft produced by Piper Aircraft. Designed for flight training, air taxi, and personal use, the PA-28 series comprises all-metal, unpressurized, single-piston-engined airplanes with low-mounted wings and tricycle landing gear. Notable for its single door on the right side, accessed by stepping onto the wing, the Cherokee has seen continuous production since receiving its type certificate in 1960, making it one of the most produced aircraft in history. The line boasts a wide range of variations, achieved by using different engines (140-300 hp), incorporating features like turbocharging and retractable landing gear, and even stretching the fuselage to accommodate up to six passengers in the PA-32 Cherokee Six variant.

This extensive production has resulted in numerous models throughout the PA-28's history, including the well-known Warrior, Arrow, and Archer variants. These models have been continuously improved and refined over the decades, incorporating advancements in avionics, engine technology, and aerodynamics. While some models like the Archer have seen periods of discontinuation followed by renewed production due to market demand or changes in ownership, the underlying design and the PA-28's enduring popularity have ensured its continued presence in the general aviation market. The Cherokee's versatility, affordability and robust design have cemented its place as an icon in the world of aviation.

The PA-28-181 Archer II, introduced in 1975, is a four-place, fixed-landing gear landplane powered by a Lycoming O-360-A4M engine producing 180 hp. A significant upgrade from its predecessors, the Archer II featured a tapered wing, enhancing its aerodynamic performance and improving stall characteristics. This design change, along with other refinements, made the Archer II a popular choice for flight training and personal use, appreciated for its improved handling and fuel efficiency compared to earlier models. The improved performance and relative affordability of the Archer II solidified the Archer line's success within the PA-28 family.

This Piper PA-28-181 Archer II was damaged in a storm, causing the aircraft to total. While it did take a lot of surface damage, we will still recover a great list of Piper Archer parts.

Piper PA-34-220T Seneca III

The Piper PA-34 Seneca, a twin-engined light aircraft, has its origins in the Piper Cherokee Six. Its development began with a prototype that initially featured three engines, but this design was ultimately abandoned in favor of a twin-engine configuration. The first prototype of the PA-34-180 Twin Six flew in April 1967, powered by two 180 hp Lycoming O-360 engines and featuring a fixed nosewheel landing gear. Subsequent prototypes incorporated improvements such as retractable landing gear, a taller vertical tail, and more powerful engines, culminating in the introduction of the PA-34-200 Seneca in 1971.

The Seneca's production history spanned several models, each marked by refinements and upgrades. The PA-34-200T Seneca II, introduced in 1975, addressed handling concerns with modified control surfaces and turbocharged engines. The PA-34-220T Seneca III, arriving in 1981, boasted even more powerful engines and a one-piece windshield. Further iterations, the Seneca IV and V, brought incremental improvements to engine cowls, cockpit layout, and engine performance. Production continued until 2019, with the Seneca enjoying popularity in both civilian and military sectors. Embraer also produced the Seneca under license in Brazil as the EMB-810.

The PA-34-220T Seneca III, introduced in 1981, represented a significant upgrade over previous Seneca models. Key improvements included the implementation of Continental TSIO-360-KB engines producing 220 horsepower (though derated to 200 hp for continuous operation), a substantial increase resulting in improved climb and cruise performance. The aircraft also featured a one-piece windshield replacing the previous removable plastic-covered panel, and a higher maximum takeoff weight, leading to a greater useful load compared to its predecessors. More than 930 Seneca IIIs were built, with the final 37 incorporating a 28-volt electrical system. Its higher gross weight of 4,750 lb (2,155 kg) for takeoff and 4,513 lb (2,047 kg) for landing further showcased its enhanced capabilities.

Piper PA-32-301T Turbo Saratoga

The Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six is a series of single-engine, fixed-landing-gear, light aircraft manufactured by Piper Aircraft in the United States from 1965 to 2007. Designed to be larger than the four-seat PA-28 Cherokee, the PA-32 series saw significant evolution, including models with increased horsepower, improved cabin space, and eventually, the addition of retractable landing gear in the PA-32R series, which led to the Piper Saratoga. Over its production run, the PA-32 was used extensively for private transportation, air taxi services, bush flying, and medevac operations. The aircraft's versatility contributed to its widespread popularity and substantial production numbers (over 7,842 units).

Key features of the Cherokee Six included a baggage compartment located in the aircraft's nose, and a large double door in the rear for easy loading of passengers and cargo. Several model variants emerged over the years, denoted by alphanumeric designators (e.g., PA-32-260, PA-32-300), each representing incremental changes in engine power, cabin configuration, and other improvements. Embraer also produced Brazilian license-built versions of several PA-32 models under the Minuano and Sertanejo designations. The production of the PA-32 ultimately ceased in 2007, concluding a long and influential chapter in general aviation history.

The PA-32-301T Turbo Saratoga is a variant of the PA-32 Cherokee Six series, distinguished by its turbocharged Lycoming TIO-540-S1AD engine and revised cowling. This modification provided increased performance compared to its naturally aspirated counterparts, notably enhancing its high-altitude capabilities. Introduced in 1980, the PA-32-301T represented a significant performance upgrade within the Saratoga line, making it attractive to pilots operating in diverse conditions or requiring greater climb rates and higher-altitude cruise performance.
