New in the Aircraft Salvage Hangar - October 9th, 2023
Posted by BAS | Aircraft Salvage Experts on Oct 9th 2023
After disassembling aircraft at the BAS Part Sales Kansas City location last week, our mechanics team is back in the hangar in Greeley. Before they left, they made sure the hangar was spotless and was ready for a new set of aircraft to be brought in.
Starting the new week, we've got a hangar with a Cessna R182 Skylane, a Bell 206B and a Piper PA-46-350P ready to be disassembled.
Bell 206B
Oh shucks! This Bell 206B in our shop collided with a power line and made a dent in a corn field upon its landing.
Bell has a family of 206 models that include two-bladed, single and twin-engine helicopters.
Bell manufactures aircraft in Quebec. The Bell YOH-4 was initially designed for the United States Army, even though the U.S. military never selected it for the Light Observation helicopter program.
Bell adjusted its developed helicopter and merchandised it for commercial use. This model was introduced as the Bell 206A JetRanger. Later it would be selected as the Army’s OH-58 Kiowa.
The Bell 206B model came with upgrades included in previous models but isn’t without its own. This model has an upgraded Allison 250-C20 engine.
You can read more about Bell 206B here. Be sure to get in touch with our sales team as soon as possible if you see something you need from the Bell in our shop!
Piper PA-46-350P
Ever been told you have ice in your veins? Or should we say… ice in your elevator?
It was determined by the NTSB that the pilot of this Piper PA-46-350P aircraft was not traveling at a high enough speed to enough to accommodate icy conditions.
Not being “up to speed” caused ice to accumulate, losing the pilot control of the elevator.
Piper’s PA-46 models are known as the M-Class. Piper’s PA-46 was the third single-engine aircraft that had a pressurized cabin to be available to the public. This happens to be the only one still being produced today.
Piper’s PA-46-350P upgraded the Piper Malibu with a new wing and more powerful engine. Over time panel upgrades went from being all-King to coming standard with the Garmin G1000 glass cockpit.

Cessna R182 Skylane
The Cessna R182 Skylane RGII in our shop was damaged by no fault of its own, or it's pilot's...because it didn’t have one. A Cessna 172M Skyhawk taxied into this aircraft when it was parked and unoccupied.
The right wing and the right side of the fuselage took an immense amount of impact from the collision, so that is where most of the damage sits.
Cessna’s original 182 was initially introduced in 1956 as a variant of Cessna’s 180 model. Updated models included fuselages that were wider, landing gear changes, larger baggage compartments and more.
The R182 model was introduced with four seats, a retractable landing gear, a Lycoming piston engine and more. You can learn more about Cessna's Skylane here.
