Posted by Clinton McJenkin on Sep 3rd 2024

Dave and the Mechanics have moved some primo merchandise into the BAS Disassembly hangar. They are working on disassembling a Piper PA-44-180 Seminole, a Cessna T210L, and a Cessna 182P. All three airplanes are chock full of great avionics, interior pieces, seats, yokes, landing gear, and so much more. But...the high-demand parts from these aircraft, including the engines, won't sit here very long. If you see something you need, you should reach out immediately!

Piper PA-44-180 Seminole

The Piper PA-44-180, commonly known as the Seminole, is a twin-engine aircraft that has earned a reputation for its reliability and versatility. First introduced in the 1970s, the Seminole is primarily used for flight training, providing students with experience in multi-engine operations. With a seating capacity for up to four people and a spacious cabin, it offers comfort and convenience, making it ideal for both pilots learning to operate multi-engine planes and for small air travel needs. Powered by two Lycoming O-360 engines, the PA-44-180 provides a blend of performance and fuel efficiency, capable of reaching a maximum cruise speed of about 150 knots.

One of the notable features of the Piper PA-44-180 is its sophisticated avionics, which can be upgraded to meet modern flight training needs. The aircraft is designed with safety in mind, incorporating features such as a reliable engine-out performance and a low stall speed, which enhances its suitability for learners. Additionally, its relatively forgiving handling characteristics make it a favorite among instructors. Over the years, the PA-44-180 has become a staple in flying schools around the world, helping countless pilots gain essential skills necessary for their aviation careers.

This Piper PA-44-180 Seminole was struck by a pickup truck, causing some damage to the nose of the aircraft. The interior and most of the aircraft are in good shape, and we will recover a long list of Piper Seminole parts from this disassembly, such as...

Cessna 182P Skylane

The Cessna 182P Skylane, produced by Cessna Aircraft Company from 1963 to 1969, is a four-seat, single-engine light aircraft renowned for its reliability and versatility. With a high-wing design, the Cessna 182P offers excellent visibility for pilots and passengers alike, making it a popular choice for both personal and instructional flying. The aircraft is powered by a 230-horsepower, fuel-injected engine that enables it to reach a cruising speed of approximately 145 knots (167 mph). Its spacious cabin provides comfort during flights, making it suitable for long-distance travel. Additionally, the Skylane’s relatively gentle stall characteristics and stable handling make it an ideal aircraft for both novice and experienced pilots.

In terms of performance, the Cessna 182P has a maximum range of around 800 nautical miles, allowing for extended flights without the need for frequent refueling stops. The aircraft's robust build and dependable engineering contribute to its reputation as a workhorse in the general aviation community. Many aircraft owners have utilized the 182P for various purposes, including flight training, sightseeing, and even cargo transport. Over the years, the Cessna 182P has established itself as a beloved model among aviation enthusiasts, and it continues to be a sought-after aircraft on the used market for those looking to own a reliable and capable light plane.

This 182P suffered some significant damage to the left wing when it was struck by the T210L that is also in our shop this week. The rest of the aircraft is in outstanding condition. This airplane has an Amazing interior! The seats are black leather with a red stitch and it still smells like leather when you open the door. It is also equipped with a BRS Parachute system, engine upgrades, great avionics, and much more.

After much debate, we are sending this 182P through the disassembly process and will soon have parts and components available, such as...

Cessna T210L Turbo Centurion

The Cessna T210L is unique for several reasons that set it apart within the Cessna 210 family and general aviation in general. One of its standout features is the turbocharged engine, which allows for better performance at higher altitudes. This capability is particularly advantageous for operating in mountainous regions or for flights that require cruising above weather patterns. The turbocharger helps maintain engine efficiency and power, even as air density decreases with altitude, making the T210L an excellent choice for long-distance travel.

Another distinctive aspect of the T210L is its combination of a high-wing design with a spacious cabin layout. The high-wing configuration not only provides excellent visibility for both the pilot and passengers, but it also enhances stability and comfort during flight. Additionally, the aircraft's retractable landing gear contributes to its aerodynamic efficiency and overall speed, helping it achieve a maximum cruise speed of around 175 knots. The spacious interior can comfortably accommodate up to six people, making it suitable for both family trips and business travel, further enhancing its appeal as a versatile general aviation aircraft.

This Turbo Centurion blew a tire during a rough landing, causing the airplane to veer off the runway. Overall, the aircraft is in great shape outside of the expected damage. We will recover a great inventory of Cessna T210L parts, such as...
