New In The Aircraft Salvage Hangar - January 25, 2023

Posted by BAS | Aircraft Salvage Experts on Jan 25th 2023

We have a Cessna triplet in the shop this week. The big Cessna AGtruck is quite the aircraft, much bigger than our usual crop of salvage planes. Plus the two Cessna 172's, both damaged during Hurricane Ida, makes for a huge addition to our already massive inventory of used airplane parts. These aircraft are great examples of planes that look destroyed, but they're not. We will collect many high-quality, in-demand Cessna parts from these planes as they go through the disassembly process.

As usual, the BAS team of aviation mechanics is already hard at work disassembling these aircraft, so if you see something you need, get in touch quickly. You can always call our team at  970-313-4823 or email sales@baspartsales.com.

Nearly every part in our inventory comes with our industry-leading 90-day money back guarantee, and thousands of parts come with free 2-day shipping. So let us know how we can help you get back in the air!

1976 Cessna AGtruck - A188B

This is a very cool agriculture airplane manufactured by Cessna from 1966 to 1983. The Cessna 188 came in 5 variations - The AGwagon, AGtruck,  AGpickup, and AGhusky, plus the AGcarryall, a variant of the 185 Skywagon.

The first Cessna 188 was flown in 1965 and certified for production in February 1966. The basics of the 188 were so successful that the only significant changes made over the years were to the engine and agricultural systems. There were some minor changes over those years, but the basic airframe remained unchanged.

This 1976 Cessna A188B AGtruck came from the factory powered by a Continental IO-520-D engine producing 300 hp with a 280-gallon hopper.

We have the log books and bill of sale for this airplane. It also has some great Ag equipment...

  • Satloc M3 GPS Guidance System
  • Scott Tailwheel Setup

1975 Cessna 172M

This Cessna was damaged during Hurricane Ida.

It has a Lycoming O-320 series engine, and we have the log books and bill of sale for this aircraft.

Check out our article on the cost of owning a Cessna 172.

The Cessna 172 Skyhawk (Wikipedia) is the most successful aircraft in history, the end. Cessna delivered the first production model of the 172 in 1956. As of 2015, Cessna had built more than 44,000 units, and the Skyhawk is still in production today. That's 67 years of continuous production.

The "M" designation makes this unit a "camber-lift" wing model with a drooped wing leading edge giving it better handling at low speeds. For the first time, the M model offered an optional package upgrading the standard equipment and including a second nav/comm radio, an ADF and transponder. In addition, the M model increased the size of the baggage compartment and offered dual landing lights as an option.

Interestingly, the 1975 172M model had a starting price of $16,055 and a fully loaded price tag of $20,335!

While this 1975 Cessna might look totaled, it has a wide range of quality components coming off during the disassembly process that can save you thousands and get you back in the air quickly. The prop and the landing gear on this airplane look good. And it has a nice list of quality components and instruments heading into our inventory.

For a complete list or for something specific, reach out to our sales team at 970-313-4823 or sales@baspartsales.com. The short list of notable parts and components looks like...

1979 Cessna 172RG

This 172RG was also damaged during Hurricane Ida. We have the log books and bill of sale for this aircraft.

The 172RG is a hybrid of sorts...it is a mix of the wildly popular 172, the best-selling aircraft of all time, and the 182RG Skylane. The 172RG hit the market around 1980 as the Cessna 172RG Cutlass and was only in production for five years. There is a great article on AVWeb.com about the 172RG; read more.

The 172RG is, basically, a 172 with retractable landing gear, a constant-speed prop, and a Lycoming O-360-F1A6 engine with a carburetor.

We have a potential buyer for this aircraft and will update this blog post as its status changes. If you need more info, call our sales team at 970-313-4823
