We're Growing...Still. -- A May 31st Update
Posted by BAS | Aircraft Salvage Experts on May 31st 2023
Over the last decade BAS Part Sales has reinvented the wheel when it comes to selling salvaged aircraft parts. We’ve kept you up to date on the process previously here, but we thought we’d update you on the progress happening in our hangar now.
Our team spent this week advancing the newest 14,000-square-foot expansion of our hangar. The concrete has been set, the hangar door was installed and that meant it was time for pallet racking.
How Far We’ve Come
JW Duff started his aircraft salvage business somewhere around 60ish years ago. Duff passed away in 2013, but his inventory was purchased by an aircraft salvage competitor. In 2017, we bought the remainder of the inventory and the hangar after that aircraft salvage business went under.
Our current hangar started with the original taxi-way asphalt as flooring. Our team of three people worked through the inventory in the pre-renovated version of the hangar we are in now.
They sorted through items, discarding what was not salvageable. They tagged parts, photographed them and sold what they could. The team published over 32,000 listings and had 180,000 plus items in inventory.
A few years ago, our hangar got a complete makeover to create accommodating spaces for our growing team of employees as well as our need for adequate space to disassemble aircraft.
After several years of organizing, listing and selling the Duff inventory, the remainder was sold to a bulk buyer in 2022.
A Home for Additional Inventory
Inclusive of parts from Cessna, Piper, Mooney and more, our airplane parts inventory is extensive. Our priority in the warehouse is to maintain a deep organization of the massive inventory that allows our team to pick your aviation parts accurately and get them out the door on the same day you order.
BAS uses pallet racks for shelving in the warehouse. They are an adequate home for both the storage bins we use to store smaller parts, and the pallets that hold larger parts like engines or the boxes that house interiors.
The 240 plus individual pallet shelves we put in will allow for the storage of an unfathomable number of used airplane parts. That’s not inclusive of the additional propeller or wing storage we added either.
We’re growing in the best ways. But no matter how much we grow, one thing stays the same... Our commitment to you, our customer. The added space means we have more storage, but the quality of our process stays the same.
