New In The Aircraft Salvage Hangar - February 23, 2024

Posted by Clinton McJenkin on Feb 22nd 2024

While the Piper Archer airplanes are keeping us busy, we are still moving new inventory through the disassembly process at the same time.

This week, we have a Piper PA-31-350 Navajo and a Mooney M20K moving into the BAS hangar. Both units come to us after hard landings. But both airplanes will yield a very long list of high-quality and high-demand airplane parts. Our mechanic team is already working on these airplanes so parts will be on the shelf and ready to ship very soon. Per usual, if you see something you need, get in touch with our team ASAP.

Mooney M20K

The Mooney M20 has been in production since 1955. It was first flown in 1953 and certified in 1955. Did you know that the original M20 and M20A had wooden wings? The M20V debuted in 2016, and more than 11,000 M20s have been produced over the years. What has always made the Mooney appealing is its speed. The early M20s could reach 170 mph with a 150-horsepower Lycoming engine.

This M20K is a 1982 model, making it an M20K 231 with a 210-horsepower Continental engine. 888 units of the M20K 231 were produced between 1979 and 1985. The M20K 231 was the first time Mooney produced a turbo-charged aircraft. The turbocharged M20K can reach a top speed of 231 mph.

This particular Mooney M20K had a hard landing that totaled the aircraft. Most of the aircraft is in great condition, and we will retrieve a lengthy list of outstanding Mooney parts from this disassembly...

• TSIO-360-LB (Prop Struck)
• JPI EDM 800
• Bendix KMA 24
• Insight Strike Finder
• Nose Gear Assembly
• RH Aileron
• Spinner and Bulkhead
• Upper Cowling (Minor Damage)
• RH & LH Elevator
• Rudder

Piper PA-31-350 Navajo

Development of the Piper PA-31 started in 1962, and the first flight was made in 1964. The Navajo was certified in 1966, and deliveries began in 1967. The Piper PA-31-350 Navajo Chieftan, as we have in our disassembly shop, was unveiled in 1972 and featured up to ten seats with a 2ft extension of the fuselage and more powerful engines with counter-rotating props. Piper built 1825 Navajo Chieftans.

The Piper in our disassembly hangar right now also had a hard landing. But, like the Mooney above, it will still yield a very long list of Piper airplane parts that will not sit on our shelves very long. The highlights of the high-demand parts and components look like...

• TIO-540-J2BD (Prop Struck)
• Engine Mount
• (X2) Mid Continent T/C 1394T100
• Seats & Interior Components
• Control Wheels
• Main Gear Assemblies
• RH & LH Wing Flap
• RH Stabilator
• RH Aileron
• Emergency Exit Window

We are ready, willing, and able to help you get back in the air.
