New In The BAS Turbine Disassembly Hangar July 02, 2025

Well, that was fast. The 2018 HondaJet HA-420 barely had time to cast a shadow in our Turbine Disassembly Hangar before it was gone—someone threw down an offer strong enough to buy the whole bird outright. We were geared up to part it out: GE Honda HF120 engines, slick glass cockpit, the works. But when the right number hits the runway, you don’t ask questions—you hand over the keys. That’s the turbine game—fast deals, faster jets. Stick around… the next one might not get away.

The HondaJet HA-420 in the BAS Disassembly Hangar...
We recently brought in a 2018 HondaJet HA-420 that had a runway mishap - caught in a crosswind and veered into the grass. Still, this jet was loaded with top-tier components and looked like the perfect candidate for a full teardown. Key word: was.
Before we could even start pulling panels, someone made an offer strong enough to take the entire aircraft off our hands - end of story. So, while you won’t be seeing these parts on our shelves, it’s a reminder of how fast premium inventory can move.
Don’t worry - we’ve got more turbine aircraft inbound, and the next teardown could be the one with your name on it. Stay tuned for what’s landing next!

🛩 A Brief History of the HondaJet HA-420
Origins and Design Evolution
The HondaJet HA-420 is a revolutionary twin-engine very light business jet developed by Honda Aircraft Company. The initial prototype flew for the first time on December 3, 2003, and the aircraft achieved FAA certification on December 8, 2015, with first deliveries starting shortly afterward. The HA-420 introduced several innovative features to the light jet market, including:
- An advanced over-the-wing engine mount (OTWEM) configuration, significantly reducing cabin noise and improving fuel efficiency.
- A spacious cabin measuring approximately 17.8 feet in length, with generous seating for up to six passengers (including crew).
- Honda-designed and GE co-developed HF120 turbofan engines, each producing approximately 2,050 lbf of thrust.
The HondaJet HA-420 also integrated a state-of-the-art Garmin G3000 avionics suite, providing comprehensive electronic flight instrumentation and touchscreen controls.
Performance Enhancements
The HA-420 features a composite fuselage constructed of lightweight, advanced materials, contributing to improved aerodynamic efficiency and lower fuel consumption. Its innovative design enables it to achieve a maximum cruise speed of approximately 422 knots (486 mph) and an operational ceiling of 43,000 feet. The jet’s unique aerodynamic features and efficient engines also deliver impressive fuel economy and reduced environmental impact compared to traditional business jets.
Production and Variants
Since deliveries began in 2015, the HondaJet HA-420 has become one of the top-selling jets in its category, with over 200 units delivered worldwide. Honda Aircraft has also introduced enhanced versions:
- HondaJet Elite: Introduced in 2018, featuring increased range, noise reduction enhancements, avionics upgrades, and additional cabin comfort options.
- HondaJet Elite S: Launched in 2021, offering improved payload capability, avionics upgrades, and further refinements in overall performance.
The HA-420 and its variants continue to set benchmarks in the very light jet market, recognized for their innovative engineering and exceptional performance.
✈ Expected Parts from This HondaJet HA-420
We were excited to part out a 2018 HondaJet HA-420 that experienced a runway excursion earlier this year. With just 644 flight hours and 465 landings, it was packed with premium components - perfect for reuse in high-end aviation projects.
But before the first wrench was turned, the whole jet was spoken for. One serious buyer, one swift deal - off the market in a flash. That’s how it goes with top-shelf turbine aircraft. More opportunities are on final approach - stay tuned!
At the heart of this jet is the advanced Garmin G3000 Integrated Avionics Suite, featuring crucial flight instrumentation like the Flight Control Panel, Altimeter, Magnetometer, and Data Concentrator Unit. These avionics systems, known for their reliability and state-of-the-art technology, provide tremendous value and capability for prospective buyers seeking to upgrade or maintain their aircraft. The electrical components, such as the Inverter, Current Source Flasher, and Touchscreen Controller, are meticulously maintained and ready for integration into compatible systems. These parts are critical for ensuring seamless electrical system operations and enhancing cockpit functionality.
The airframe also offers valuable assets, including the Primary and Secondary Outflow Valves, Cabin Pressurization Unit, and Cockpit Panel. Each component plays an essential role in maintaining cabin pressure and ensuring passenger comfort and safety at altitude. Landing gear and braking systems from this aircraft, including the Nose and Main Wheels, Brake Valve, and Master Cylinders, are in excellent condition and available to help operators reduce downtime by sourcing quality, original equipment parts. Safety and environmental system components, such as Ice Detectors, Fire Extinguishers, and ELT Transmitters, along with essential oxygen equipment, are also salvageable, providing dependable performance and compliance with stringent safety standards.
Finally, we're making available parts from the fuel and hydraulic systems, such as the Fuel Quantity Signal Conditioner, Hydraulic Accumulator, and Boost Pump Controller. Lighting components, including the Taxi and Tail Lights, round out a comprehensive inventory that ensures diverse aviation needs can be met efficiently and effectively. Each part from this HondaJet is accompanied by complete documentation, including aircraft logs, maintenance history, and airworthiness certifications. We're committed to providing pre-owned, high-quality, well-documented parts to support aviation professionals and enthusiasts in maintaining and enhancing their fleet.
